We often get asked how long we've been married, to which we reply: 3 years. We either get one of two responses. one: "wow, how old are you?" and two: "oh how fun for you, you're still in the honeymoon phase." I want to talk about response two {#1 happens in about every aspect of my life, nothing new}. I don't know about you other marrieds out there, but our honeymoon phase has most certainly not been 3 years long. Ours maybe lasted 6 months, until real life hit us.Maybe you are the lucky ones and feel like 95% of the days you have been married have been blissfully magical and your spouse still closes the door when they go to the bathroom. That's nice for you.
I'll be the first to admit, marriage is hard, and I'm not the easiest person to get along with. I'm quite opinionated and stubborn. For example, when we first got married j.rue {kindly} asked me to stop sharing my opinion with everyone, because I was starting to offend people. Dang it, sometimes I just struggle. Anyway, I'm kind of getting off topic, but are we surprised?
What I'm getting at is that during all of the "grown-up adult style" things that have happened since we've decided to tie the knot, I've started to take advantage of the wonderful j.rue that I really have. I tell him daily that I love him, but I don't know if I'm as good at showing him. I'm not talking huge acts of grandeur status, just the little simple things; love notes, bum squeezes, giving up movie choosing privileges.
So what do you say? Right now, let's all start making more conscious effort to show our man just how much we unconditionally love and appreciate them. Unconditionally being the key word. It won't work if it's any other kind.
This video doesn't totally tie into what I've just talked about, but I do love the exciting-ness of new love. I also love the little note writing. It's a tad bit on the long side, but I do promise if you watch it, your heart will be warmed. Happy Thursday my fine friends. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing! I needed to hear that. :)
