PRODUCTION BOOSTERS

This may be all just me, but isn't it amazing how a couple extra hours of day light can just change, well, everything? I'm a sleepy person by nature, but when it's dark outside my bed has the amazingly strong hold on me. Meaning, this is especially bad when I get home from work at 6 and it's pitch black outside.

The dogs need to be walked? Maybe later.
The dishes need to be done? Nah.
Exercise? But it's cold and tight stretchy pants provide little to no warmth.

Do you see the pattern that's developing here. I am so unproductive during the winter it makes me a little embarrassed. There were many days that I came home, put on comfy clothes, took off my makeup and set up camp in bed. How bad is that? And what an un-fun thing for j.rue to come home to. It's been a little harder this year because b.rue has been sucking every ounce of energy of out me possible, so some evenings it's all I can do to drive home, but really. I can do better.

Another fun pregnancy fact about me is that I cry in excess amounts. Oh I already mentioned that? Well, anyway, I started watching the Biggest Loser finale right before I left work and teared up every time a contestant came out. I kept thinking, if they can loose 100+ lbs, I can totally do the dishes after work. Bless you Biggest Loser. So, even though that morning I had told j.rue that I would be driving home and promptly be putting myself to bed, I didn't, and boy was I proud.

I made my way to the library and grocery store (and I'm serious, this is amazing), watered my grass, culled the mail, walked the furs, and cleaned the  kitchen. Okay, I'll be honest not the whole kitchen. I managed to clean out the fridge, but we had a few choice tupperware containers which housed contents that cannot be identified that we took to a SUPER BOWL PARTY. Maybe that's why my house has had a funny smell. I tried, I really did. But after 3 dry heaves into my kitchen sink, I declared it a job for j.rue. Which, I might add, was gracefully accepted. Bless that j.rue.

Then I decided to make dinner. Really, don't be too proud, it was (sponge bob) mac and cheese. And I'm sorry but the character mac and cheese just brings a little something extra to the table. I decided to finish watching the Biggest Loser finale while getting everything ready. Of course I started crying again. So, lucky  j.rue arrived home to a blubbering wife with a snotty nose hoovering over his freshly cooked mac n cheese. Delightful. Of course he ate it without a second look, that unpicky j.rue. Bless him.

So moral of the story: All you need is some extra daylight and some motivational reality TV to rid you of the pregnancy poops. As is pooped, tired. Who knows what to do about the other kind.

A CLEAN MATTRESS AND THE NIGHT I ALMOST DIED

How's that for an unnecessarily large picture of an unopened advent calendar and my unpolished thumb? If you're wondering, that delicious German advent calendar is from our family's favorite German joint, Siegfried's. It disappoints never.

The highlight of my weekend was cleaning my mattress. There's nothing like pulling off your mattress foam and covers washing them up. But do you know what's even better? Taking your mattress and box springs off your bead and vacuuming up all the little dust bunnies that have reproducing like, well...bunnies, under your bed. I could have knit you a sweater with all of the dust and hair that collected just at the head of our bed. Seriously. A while ago I had also pinned something about cleaning your mattress with baking soda and that's actually what started this whole ordeal. By the time we actually got to the baking soda step though, I was tired and not super into it anymore. UNTIL j.rue asked why our mattress smelled like old people. You guys, our mattress actually smelled like old people! So I sprinkled on the baking soda, left it on for an hour or so and then vacuumed it up. Guess what? No more old people smell on our bed! There's also nothing like going to bed on a clean mattress with no dust bunny reproduction taking place. I slept like a baby.

The low-light of my weekend was the much anticipated part I HP marathon/sprint. Saturday evening, j.rue and I packed up the pups and the HP box set and set out for Ogden. We stopped and Smith's on the way for the obligatory treats and I couldn't have been more excited, especially since we had beat the storm that was settling in. We arrived at 6:00 and by 6:02 we realized that we had no way of playing those dumb HP blu-rays, because I had of course forgotten the blu-ray player.

My brother Micah generously offered to drive back to Kaysville with me to get it while j.rue watched some basketball game. We thought, no biggie, back in 35 minutes...

...an hour later we still hadn't gotten to my house. Because of the snow. Plus, we almost died. Note to you fair readers, if you plan on taking highway 89 and it's going to snow. Just don't. The snow picks up 30 times faster than it does on the freeway, even with a million cars driving on it. So we were puttering along at oh, 21 mph, and all of a sudden sparks started to fly, literally. A truck who was too big for his snow britches had over-corrected and slammed into the medium and then proceeded to cut us off as he  pulled over to the shoulder. I could have died, literally and figuratively. I got our frozen butts of 89 as fast as I could and then got us lost in some random Layton neighborhoods. We finally made it home without a scratch. I gathered the player while Micah hit the bathroom (Cafe Rio hits him hard), after the fixing of a clogged toilet and the grabbing of toiletries to spend the night we were off! Because I'd be dammed if I drove back home that night. 45 minutes later we were home and enjoying some HP, then I fell asleep about 10 minutes into the 2nd one. How's that for a sprint? More like a dash. At least there was no treacherous driving home. Plus, some delicious left-over snacks for church the next day.

Wow, I need to be better at taking pictures. I'm pretty sure it would make these stupid long posts at least a little more interesting.

Happy 2 weeks before Christmas!!!
