The Health Promotion Department puts on a Step-It-Up contest every year to get people moving, walking, exercising, whatever. They get a free pedometer and track their steps online. The Health Promotion Offices are having a contest between all of the other of the other health department offices to see how can get the most steps. They asked me to do it with them, so I went to look up how many steps per day so I could keep up with the norm. To my surprise the average amount of steps a person should be taking a day is 10,000. I was a little nervous...but I put my game face on. So, when I got into bed I looked to see how many steps I had done...just over 5,000. Yes, no where near the normal. So, basically I am lazy bum according to those numbers and my life is going no where, okay not that extreme. One site did that that people like me will most likely become overweight, joy, just what I need!
Well, I woke up this morning determined to get my 10,000 if it killed me! So I put it one before I even got out of bed, then to the shower, and everywhere else. Yes, I may have marched in place in the shower, while pouring my cereal and even while putting on my shirt. But i'll be darned, I was going to get that 10,000!
So after marching in place, watching tv standing up, cleaning the house, taking Cooper on an extra long walk, and a vigorous hour of cardio I did it. I reached 10,000 steps. And yes, unfortunately I have to continue walking for rest of the day. I think I will just roll my steps over to tomorrow, or would that be cheating?
Will I be able to do it tomorrow? Probably not. Am I going to try? Yes sir!
So here's to 10,000 steps a day, are you doing it?
Wow, that is impressive. Keep it up girl! Get your walk on!!!
